QR Studio Pro builds QR codes at a real, exact size and exports them two ways: SVG for laser engraving and CNC work, and PNG for UV printing. Both come from the same verified pattern. Everything runs on your device — nothing is uploaded.
Quick start
- Pick what the code is for under QR Code Use and fill in the fields.
- Set the finished size under Physical Size — in millimetres or inches.
- Watch Scan Check in the spec panel — it should read “Verified”.
- Download SVG for engraving, or PNG for printing.
- Scan a physical test piece with an ordinary phone before a production run.
The buttons at the top
Save code keeps the current code and all its settings on this device. Saved opens your saved codes, where you can load, delete, or back them up with Export .json / Import .json. Help opens this guide. Full switches to full screen. Dark / Light changes the colour scheme. Save to desktop installs QR Studio Pro as an app in its own window, with no browser bar, that works offline.
QR code types
Plain text or a web address, Wi-Fi access, a contact card, payments and transfers, messaging and calls, multi-factor authentication, a calendar event, or GPS coordinates. Press the i next to the type name to see what each one is for.
Size, millimetres and inches
Choose Millimetres or Inches at the top of Physical Size, then type a size or pick a preset. This only changes what you type and read — the SVG is always exported at the exact size, which LightBurn, CorelDRAW, Illustrator and CAM software all read correctly.
Don't go too small. Below about 15 mm (0.6 in), module pitch gets close to the limits of engraving kerf and ink spread.
Encoding: error correction and quiet zone
Error correction builds spare data into the pattern so the code survives damage, dirt and a centre logo. H is the right default for physical objects, and is used automatically when a centre canvas is on. The quiet zone is the blank margin scanners need; 4 modules is the standard — less makes codes harder to read on busy surfaces.
Module style
Square gives the cleanest cut path and the most reliable scan. Rounded, dot, hexagon, leaf, organic and hand-drawn add character. Custom accepts an image file (PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP or SVG) of one shape, stamped once per module and tinted to your colour — dark or opaque areas become the mark. Custom shapes are raster, so they engrave but don't give a cut path. Use Test this design to check scan reliability.
Appearance and component styling
Set the mark colour and a transparent, white or custom background. Component styling lets you colour the finder, alignment and timing patterns, format information and data separately, and choose the mask pattern. Keep a dark mark on a light background (or the inverse) — contrast is what makes codes scan.
Centre canvas (logo space)
Logo Spot clears a small circle or square. Frame QR clears a larger rectangle for illustrations or photos. Auto-protect keeps the canvas clear of the three finder squares and timing lines, and caps it at about 12% of the code so error correction keeps headroom. Manual mode removes those limits — use Scan Check to see where it breaks.
The optional logo image accepts an image file (PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP or SVG) and is included in the PNG export only. In the SVG the canvas is left as a clean empty area (with an optional guide ring) for your own vector artwork.
UV print output and white layer
PNG is rendered at a whole number of pixels per module so module edges land exactly on pixels — no soft edges to cause misregistration. Use 600 DPI unless the code is very small, then try 1200.
Printing colour onto dark, clear or metallic material usually needs a white ink base. Tick Include white underprint layer for a separate mask PNG that matches the mark and centre canvas exactly.
Getting codes to scan on real material
- Contrast is everything. Low-contrast marks on bare metal are the most common failure.
- Watch glare. Polished and anodised surfaces reflect into the camera; matte or bead-blasted finishes scan far better.
- Keep the quiet zone clear of borders, text and part edges.
- Test one piece first with an ordinary phone, at the distance and lighting it will really be used in.
Writing NFC tags
On supported Android browsers (Chrome, Edge, Opera, Samsung Internet with NFC turned on), a Write to NFC Tag section copies the same content onto a blank NFC tag. iPhone and iPad can't write NFC tags from any browser — an Apple restriction — so the section is hidden there.
Locking a tag read-only is permanent. Always write and test a tag with locking off first.
Saved codes and your data
Nothing you enter is uploaded. Saved codes are stored in this browser on this device only — clearing site data deletes them. Import .json accepts .json library files made by Export .json. Be careful what you save: an authenticator secret or payment detail is only as secure as the device, and exported .json files hold it in plain text.
Install and offline
Press Save to desktop (Chrome or Edge on a computer, or Android) to install QR Studio Pro as its own app; on iPhone use Share → Add to Home Screen. It then opens without the browser bar and works with no connection. Opened as a file from disk it still works fully, but browsers don't allow installing or offline use that way.
Disclaimer
QR Studio Pro is a design tool. It produces files; what you engrave, print, make and sell with them is your responsibility.
Scan Check is not a guarantee. It checks the generated digital pattern only. Whether a finished code scans depends on material, contrast, finish, machine calibration and the scanning device. Always scan a physical test piece before production.
Check what you encode. You're responsible for making sure the content is correct before you commit it to material or lock a tag — especially payment destinations and amounts, contact details and authentication secrets. Payments sent to a wrong address usually can't be reversed.
NFC tags. Writing depends on your device's hardware, operating system and browser, and on the tag. QR Studio Pro can't guarantee a write or lock works, and can't undo a tag once it's read-only.
Laser and printer safety. Follow your machine maker's safety instructions, never leave a laser running unattended, and use proper ventilation and extraction.
Your content and artwork. Only use logos, images and content you own or have permission to use. Uploaded files stay on your device and aren't sent to us.
No warranty. The app and its files are provided "as is", without any warranty. What you make is yours. Codes and files you create are yours to use and sell. Copying, reselling or redistributing the app itself isn't permitted.
